StockFlow Trough Pump

This system lines up perfectly with MLA's latest initiative, meaning this could cost you 50% and the other 50% MLA would fund
Proven 9 –14% Weight Gain. Measurable Extra Revenue. Solar-Powered and Built for Australian Farms
  • The Overlooked Profit Driver in Livestock Production
Every farmer knows that feed, genetics and management drive performance — but water quality is often the silent limiter.Stagnant trough water above 25 °C quickly becomes warm, low in oxygen and high in bacteria and algae. Stock drink less, eat less and convert feed more slowly.A landmark CSIRO field study (Animal Production Science) proved the impact:Cattle on aerated, circulated water gained 9–10% more weight over 90 days than those drinking from stagnant dams. That’s not theory — it’s repeatable, measured science
The StockFlow Trough Pump – Simple Technology, Serious Returns
The StockFlow Trough Pump is a compact, solar-powered unit that sits inside your existing trough. A small 5 W solar panel drives gentle, continuous circulation and aeration — no mains power, no complicated installation. It keeps water moving, cooler, better oxygenated and far less prone to bacterial buildup and algae.Future models will add optional real-time water temperature and performance monitoring so you can track the exact link between water quality and stock performance.
Proven Economic Impact – Data You Can Take to the Bank.
Cattle – 90-Day Weight Gain & Revenue (CSIRO-backed)
*Based on conservative 2025–26 liveweight values of $3–$5/kg (MLA/ABARES saleyard indicators). Actual returns will vary with market prices.
Sheep & Lambs – Paddock Example.
*Conservative lamb value. Many producers report faster gains and better feed conversion when water is clean and circulating. These figures are conservative. When you add reduced feed waste, lower vet costs, healthier animals and dramatically less trough cleaning time, the payback is usually measured in months, not years.
Real-Farm Results
Producers already running the StockFlow system consistently report:• Cleaner troughs with almost no algae or biofilm• Stock drinking more frequently and more volume• Noticeably less time spent scrubbing and emptying troughs• Healthier, more consistent weight gains.
Built Tough for Australian Conditions
• Fully solar-powered (5 W panel) — zero running costs• Low-voltage 12–18 V system with minimal power draw• Simple, durable design — fits any existing concrete, plastic or steel trough• Extremely low maintenance — just occasional solar panel wipe-down• Works in the harshest remote paddocks and feedlots.
The Bottom Line.
Water is the cheapest input on your farm — yet one of the highest-leverage ones. The StockFlow Trough Pump turns ordinary trough water into a profit engine, delivering the same 9–10% weight-gain advantage proven by CSIRO research, with almost no ongoing cost.If you run cattle or sheep and want to squeeze more kilograms and more dollars out of every animal without buying more feed or more land, this is one of the easiest upgrades you will ever make.

One of our many trials in the early days - Letter from client I am writing to you to express our appreciation of your efforts to make the pump system work successfully and your insight in causes that affect the water quality in our troughs. At our Kapunda trial operations we were preparing Angus cattle to be exported to South East Asia. Together we started the trial to identify any variances between the water consumption, feed consumption and weight gain with 1 of the pump systems installed into a water trough in the trial pen and compared the outcome with the control pens which had water troughs without pumps. Both troughs were fitted up with water meters. The cattle’s feeding and weight gain were monitored by a computer system that collected data when the cattle were being fed from the feed bins. The system operated 24 hours/day. The platform in front of the bins was also fitted with weigh scales, simultaneously recording the cattle’s weight when feeding. A quick summary of the results:Trial cattle overall growth weight was 12.6kg more than control cattle.Trial cattle overall feed intake was 63 kg less than control cattle. These are excellent results which prompted us to install 30 pumps into troughs at our cattle feedlot based in Lower light South Australia. We have begun an extension to our feedlot and have purchased an additional 42 pumps which we will be installing into the new troughs in the coming months when the extension nears completion.I personally have a small farm and feedlot a small number of cattle and have been using the pump systems.
We are looking to continue working with you and are happy to recommend your products and services to any interested producer.
Sincerely Yours,
Robbie JohnsonYarralinka Feedlot
